Vidyo announced at the Mobile World Congress that its mobile video conferencing solution would be featured for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone. The VidyoMobile app delivers one-touch HD multipoint video conferencing over Wi-Fi, 3G, or 4G wireless networks. VidyoMobile leverages the enhanced resolution of new devices such as the Galaxy S6, which has a 2560×1440 pixel QHD display, enabling the first ever QHD resolution video conferencing on a mobile device. In the Samsung booth during Mobile World Congress, Vidyo also demonstrated its integration with Flow, a Samsung technology for seamless transition of applications and data across devices.

Dialogic, a global networking software and infrastructure solution provider, announced that it has acquired NS-Technologies. This acquisition means Dialogic’s PowerMedia XMS customers should be able to more confidently deploy software media servers in large scale environments.

Spanish Telefonica claims to be the first Telco to enable the use of WebRTC to enable its customers to make calls to any number from their WebRTC-compliant browser with their own number. This is part of its “Tu Go Web service”, which extends Telefónica/O2/Movistar’s services from the mobile network to Wi-Fi.

Clary Icon, the US-based manufacturer of the OneScreen all-in-one video collaboration hub, announced an expanded partnership with Hitachi, which will now include Hitachi Solutions Europe, Ltd. The latter will provide full sales and support services to OneScreen customers and resellers.

Yealink, the chinese SIP/VoIP phone manufacturer, has introduced into the U.S. via distributors two video conferencing systems: VC120 and VC400. The VC120 includes codec, camera, mic array and remote control; the VC400 adds an integrated MCU.

The Shibboleth Consortium, a collaborative group of international R&E organizations, has released the 3rd version of the Shibboleth Identity Provider, its free open source software. Institutions are able to use the software to enable researchers to safely access library resources, databases and collaboration tools using only one login, doing away with the need to set up new accounts as they move between locations. This matters to those involved with educational technologies, including collaborative tech.

Swivl has overhauled its Swivl Cloud service for creating, editing, and managing videos created using the Swivl Robot. Among the updates: enhanced video editing features such as video trimming and project management tools for slide editing.

Avaya made a number of announcements related to its video capabilities. For video conferencing, the new flagship Avaya Scopia XT7100 room video conferencing system now supports H.265 video coding, which allows the most efficient use of bandwidth available today. The system supports video quality up to 1080P at 60fps with up to 50 percent less bandwidth over H.264 High Profile systems. A second new room system, the Scopia XT4300, provides high-definition videoconferencing for small to midsized conference rooms. Additionally, Scopia video conferencing systems now allow users to directly share content wirelessly from their laptops.

Phoenix Audio has pre-announced the Smart Spider, a new USB speakerphone for medium- to large-sized conference rooms that can also connect to smart devices, tablets, or video codecs.

ScanSource Communications announced it is now offering ShoreTel Sky, a cloud-based solution that provides businesses a high degree of flexibility, connectivity, and seamless integration with their business-critical applications.

Novus LLC, a distributor of telecommunications and IP equipment, announced it will resell new partner Numonix’s RECITE software solution, which is qualified for Microsoft Lync 2013. The RECITE software solution is a secure call recording and quality management system that merges traditional call recording functionality into a Lync-based environment. Software modules enable users to search, playback, and download their Lync recordings, as well as evaluate and manage employee communications.
